Via Planetree Web Eduation worden de internationale goede voorbeelden met elkaar gedeeld. Het is als het ware een online presentatie, waarbij alle deelnemers aan de Web Education de gelegenheid krijgen vragen te stellen.

This session will present the research and theoretical basis of the Planetree Hospital Model developed in the 1970’s and 80’s and currently implemented by Planetree Affiliates around the world. We will show that the Model is a “legacy” example of Evidence Based Design as it is based on social‐science research studies and original findings from patient focus groups. The story will be told of the creation of the Model by prominent theorists and researchers at UC Berkeley’s College of Environmental Design and School of Public Health and their success in building an experimental 12‐bed inpatient Model Unit at California Pacific Medical Center in San Francisco as “proof of concept” of what was a radical new approach to hospital design. The session will use plans, diagrams and photos of the original CPMC model as illustration. A concise “score sheet” of the design parameters for creating and evaluating a Planetree, patient‐centered environment will be explained and provided to participants. At the end of the session, participants will be able to:
1. Explain and present the original research behind Planetree, patient‐centered design
2. Find and evaluate relevant, rigorous studies supporting the Planetree design model.
3. Understand how a physical plan and key spaces are critical to the patient‐centered Planetree operations
4. Evaluate the differences between simply attractive spaces and those that support patients, families, and all users.
